Marketing Insecurities

Unknown-1

When you walk into a room and you come face to face with your competitor, how do you feel? If you are confident in yourself, your services and your ability to deliver, you probably don’t really care. If, however, you are faced with a gut wrenching feeling of threat and aren’t sure what to do, you need to rethink some of your own marketing strategies.

Many business owners don’t have a USP – Unique Selling Proposition. Some can’t name what real value they add to their customers and how they stand out in a crowded market.

If you are struggling with this, here are a few ways to get started:-

Look at your competitors – it may be a good idea to draw a line down the middle of a page and write down what your competitors are good at and what you excel at. Do this for a few of your competitors and you should find a gap, something everyone is missing. Then you make sure you can deliver on it.

Emotion – You need to put yourself in your customers shoes and think bout what emotional need is being specifically met by your products or services.

What’s in it for me? – Answer the biggest pain your customers have and use that as a benefit to them. Ie. M & M’s “melt in your mouth, not in your hand”.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, this does take time to work out. However, don’t wait too long, it could be the difference between your business succeeding or sinking.
